Sunshine Cup at IMG Academy - June 1-2, 2013

    The 2013 7th Annual Sunshine Cup is a Summer tournament event that is part of the Florida United Lacrosse Cup series. The Sunshine Cup has established a reputation as a well-organized, safe, and competitive tournament with high-level competition drawn from a wide regional and national base.  This year's event will be held on June 1-2, 2013 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.  Over 50 teams representing their respective elite programs, high schools, and middle schools from across the South and neighboring states will be attending this year's event.

    2013 Sunshine Cup is an IMG National Regional Qualifier

    As of 2013, the IMG Academy has announced the development of the IMG Nationals, an off-season national championship for elite teams qualifying through a national regional qualifying system of tournaments held throughout the summer and fall.

    The Florida United Lacrosse Cup championship series has been extended an invitation by the IMG Academy to grant the Sunshine Cup the authorization to operate as an IMG Nationals regional qualifier.  First and second place teams in the U-19, U-17, and U-15 divisions at this year's Sunshine Cup will be offered a bid to compete at the 2013 IMG Nationals.  All players on teams that win their division at the IMG Nationals will receive a free week of training at the IMG Academy.

    Directions to IMG Academies

    • Traveling from the South on I-75: Take Exit 217 B (old exit 41 B) and travel west on State Road 70 for nine miles. Go to Bollettieri Blvd and turn left. Follow to the end where parking attendants will direct you.
    • Traveling from the North on I-75: Take Exit 217 (old exit 41) and travel west on State Road 70 for nine miles. Go to Bollettieri Blvd and turn left. Follow to the end where parking attendants will direct you.
    • Directions from Sarasota/Bradenton Airport: Turn right out of airport exit onto University Parkway. Turn right onto U.S. 41 North (also Tamiami Trail). Tamiami Trail becomes 14th Street West. Turn left onto 53rd Avenue West. Go to Bollettieri Blvd and turn left. Follow to the end where parking attendants will direct you.
    • Directions from Tampa International Airport: Follow I-275 South across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, to I-75 South. Take I-75 South to Exit 217 (old exit 41) (State Road 70), travel west on State Road 70 (becomes 53rd Avenue). Go to Bollettieri Blvd and turn left. Follow to the end where parking attendants will direct you.

    Tournament Fee

    The fee for each team entered in the Sunshine Cup is $1,150.


    About the Facility

    The 2013 7th Annual Sunshine Cup will be held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.  With a vibrant and energetic 450-acre campus, IMG Academy's facilities provide a key element to making IMG the world's most prestigious and effective training complex. In addition to an incredible array of sport-specific facilities, all IMG students have access to the a broad  sprectrum of programs and services including the world-renown IMG Performance Institute.  Facilities include:

    • 16 multi-purpose fields kept in perfect condition;
    • 10,000 seat footbal/lacrosse stadium (to be completed august 2013);
    • 10,000 square-foot weight room filled with the most advanced equipment for athletic improvement;
    • 4-lane track with two lanes of composite and two lanes of rubber surfaces;
    • Turf training field;
    • Vision Training center with many of the same visual training exercises used by military pilots;
    • Athletic Regeneration area for minor aches and pains;
    • BOD POD -- state-of-the-art body composition measurement machine;
    • Multiple mental conditioning rooms for 1-on-1 work with mental specialists to develop confidence, focus and attitude;
    • Communication Training and Nutrition Analysis centers.

    Food service vendors, apparel vendors, and restroom facilities will be available at the complex.  Fields at the complex will be clearly marked to facilitate movement from field-to-field.

    Families with out-of-town teams are strongly encouraged to reserve their rooms through EPN Travel Services and stay in our tournament's recommended hotels - all at negotiated discount tournament rates.  These high-quality properties have been pre-screened to ensure they meet the strict standards of our event organizers and your personal expectations for your stay at a resort-based hotel.
